After clerking with the firm during law school, Ethan joined the firm as an associate in 2003. During his time at Stetson, Ethan served on the Stetson Law Review as the Recent Developments Editor, where he focused on state and local government issues such as land use, Florida constitutional law, and administrative law. Ethan also served as an intern to then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich.
Ethan also served as a research assistant to Professor Julian Kossow
and designed the curriculum and a casebook for a summer law school course
taught at the Scandinavian/Baltic Institute on Emerging Markets and
Transitional Democracies in Tallinn, Estonia. This course focused primarily
on post-communist Europe’s state of affairs in the twentieth and
twenty-first centuries, and how these countries could compensate victims
for the unlawful expropriation of their lands and property during the
Nazi and Soviet Union occupations. Upon graduation, Ethan received the
Florida Bar’s City, County and Local Government Law Section Student
Award, which is presented to a law student who has demonstrated academic
excellence in the field of City, County, and Local Government Law. Ethan
focuses his practice on property rights litigation and local government
issues, including regulatory takings and civil rights violations.
